Meeting of the Trustees 2025

On March 13, the Board of Trustees convened for a highly attended session at our institute. Prof. Bernhard Keimer, Managing Director, extended a warm welcome to all trustees. Prof. Münch, Chairman of the Board, then officially opened the meeting.
Following these opening remarks, Prof. Keimer delivered two back-to-back presentations. The first gave an overview of the institute’s achievements over the past year, highlighting plans for the new AI-driven materials synthesis annex, the total renovation of the institute building, and the excellent review from the Scientific Advisory Board. He also introduced future research directions in quantum materials and energy applications.
His second talk focused on superconductivity, exploring both the fundamental science and potential practical uses. The presentations sparked a lively discussion among the trustees, covering the opportunities and challenges presented in both topics.
The evening concluded with a convivial dinner, where the trustees voiced their satisfaction with the institute’s leadership—especially its handling of complex issues like the cluster retirement—and expressed optimism for the exciting path ahead.
