Korea-Europe Workshop on Quantum Materials: Advancing International Scientific Collaboration
From September 9 to 11, 2024, the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research hosted the Korea-Europe Workshop on Quantum Materials, co-organized with the Korean Academy of Science & Technology (KAST). As part of the Korean government’s initiative to strengthen scientific ties with Europe, the event gathered over 60 participants, including more than 20 leading speakers, to exchange groundbreaking ideas in quantum materials research.
Fostering Cross-Continental Collaboration
The workshop provided a platform for scientists from Korea and Europe to share recent discoveries on topics like 2D Magnets, Topological Matter, Spin-Orbit Physics, and Method Development. Organized by Prof. Bernhard Keimer of the Max Planck Institute and Prof. Je-Geun Park of Seoul National University, the event promoted open dialogue and set the stage for future partnerships between researchers and institutions.
A Catalyst for Scientific Exchange
Marked by engaging presentations and vibrant discussions, the workshop enabled participants to form new connections and explore innovative research avenues. This initiative highlighted the importance of global collaboration in advancing quantum materials science and demonstrated the shared commitment to pushing scientific boundaries.
Building Stronger Scientific Ties
Reflecting the Korean government’s strategy to deepen relationships with European institutions, the workshop created opportunities for collaborative research and knowledge exchange. The success of this event paves the way for continued partnerships and joint initiatives in the future.
We thank all who contributed to making the workshop a success and look forward to future collaboration within the international scientific community.
