Kekulé Fellowship awarded to Julia Knapp

We are delighted to announce that Julia Knapp, a PhD student in the Nanochemistry Department, has been awarded the prestigious Kekulé Fellowship for 2024 by the Stiftung Stipendien-Fonds of the Chemical Industry Fund (VCI). She is one of 46 recipients of this highly competitive fellowship.

Julia was awarded the fellowship in recognition of her excellent work and outstanding grades during her master studies, demonstrating her exceptional potential as a researcher in the field of chemistry.

The Chemical Industry Fund (Fonds der Chemischen Industrie) based in Frankfurt am Main, serves as the funding institution of the Chemical Industry Association (Verband der Chemischen Industrie, VCI).

The Stiftung Stipendien-Fonds of the VCI established in 1965 to support outstanding young scientists in the field of chemistry. The foundation awards fellowships to PhD students and prospective university lecturers, including the Kekulé fellowship, which supports PhD students in chemistry and chemistry-related subjects. The duration of this fellowship is 3 years, starting from September 2024. The fellowship’s goal is to promote highly talented young scientists.

In addition to financial support for their studies, Kekulé Fellowship awardees receive also additional funding to attend congresses with an international orientation.

Julia started with her PhD just in November 2023 and she will investigate MOFs for dark photocatalysis.
