Reticular Materials
Reticular solids like metal-organic (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks combine the precise structural definition and rational tunability of molecules with the robustness and structural degrees of freedom of bulk materials. Our goal is to advance reticular materials from model solids to a robust material platform suitable for real-world applications in solar energy conversion and storage, active matter, and sensing. Instrumental to our work is an in-depth understanding of the real structure of the frameworks, i.e., the nature of disorder and defects, along with the principles governing framework formation. We address these questions using local, long-range and in situ spectroscopic, microscopic and diffraction techniques.
