Gideok Kim received the President Award from the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity

Gideok Kim, a scientist at the Max-Planck Institute for Solid State Research, received the President Award from the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity for his contributions to public science communication in Korea. KOFAC (Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity) is a Korean government-affiliated institute dedicated to developing policies to promote S&T culture and education in Korea, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the Ministry of Education (MOE). The award ceremony took place at the NANO KOREA 2024 symposium and exhibition.

To promote solid-state physics in Korea, Gideok Kim has published two books, including one on superconductivity for general readers and a compilation book on materials physics written by 11 physicists in Korea. He has also written articles for public magazines issued by research institutes such as APCTP (Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics) and KIAS (Korea Institute for Advanced Study). Recently, he gave a lecture on superconductivity on national television and participated in several interviews across various media platforms.
